Military Parade
Military ParadeWhat:
Part of the build up to the Royal Artillery Gold Cup race meeting at Sandown Park. 
Why: The parade will comprise of The King’s Troop RHA, marching troops from 7TH Parachute Regiment Royal Horse Artillery, The Royal Artillery Band, Royal Artillery Equipments (Light Gun and Rapier FSC), ACF, RAA and the Royal Artillery Pipes and Drums.  The Master Gunner St James' Park (General Sir Timothy Granville-Chapman) will take the Salute.  He will be accompanied by the Deputy Lieutenant of Surrey (Brigadier Bartlett) and the Mayor of Elmbridge (Councillor Sheldon).
When: Friday 17 February from 10.30am.
Where: High Street, Esher. The parade will start from the car park near the Police Station and finish at Sandown Park Racecourse.

CHEER
The Royal Artillery Gold Cup
Royal Artillery CupWhat:
One of the oldest events in the Racing Calendar, having existed for nearly 150 years.
Why: This half term fixture will feature live performances by the legendary War Horse puppet Topthorn and a guest appearance from author Michael Morpurgo, celebrating the launch of the Spielberg War Horse movie in the UK. The Military Wives Choir who secured the 2011 Christmas Number 1 will be there on the day performing a selection of live songs between the racing. A perfect day to help raise funds for the Help for Heroes charity.

Wembley To SowetoWhat: Gala fund raising evening. Set against the back drop of the last football World Cup, Wembley to Soweto is an extraordinary photographic journey of over 50 images shot by disadvantaged teenagers from the Johannesburg townships.

More than 500 stalls of toys and models
Why: There will also be several Land Speed Record Cars on display including Bloodhound, Bluebird Electric and Angelic Bulldog record cars. The Brooklands Outreach Team and the Speed Record Club will be displaying several scale models of record cars in the foyer. There will also be book signings from authors Mike Vardell "The British Are Coming" and Neil Sheppard "Donald Campbell, Bluebird and the final record attempt". This is an excellent opportunity to see these historic cars up close, so remember to bring your camera.

Excavations at Woking Palace
What:
Esher District Local History Society talk by Richard Savage.
Why: Great opportunity to find out about work by the Friends of Woking Palace. In the 1990s, archaeological diving operations in the River Wey brought up a number of interesting artefacts. These included pottery dating from all periods and a number of rare fragments of blue and white Valencian tiles. Other items found in the river were building materials, clay pipes, window and vessel glass, metal and household objects such as knives, buckles and goblets.

Captain Richard de Crespigny will be giving a talk entitled, “The QF32 Engine Failure - 4th Nov 2010”
Why: Captain Champion de Crespigny was hailed a hero when he guided a heavily damaged double-decker jet to the safety of Singapore Airport, averting what could have been a catastrophe.
