Tulips planted in celebration of Thames Hospicecare's anniversary

Salmon pink flower and the bulbs have been planted at Heatherwood

Heatherwood and Wexham Park hospitals are set for a colourful spring as hundreds of tulip bulbs have been planted in celebration of Thames Hospicecare’s 25th anniversary.

The local charity has recently distributed tens of thousands of bulbs which are being planted around the Berkshire area to mark their special birthday, creating a number of hospicecare Little Gardens at schools, offices and local businesses in the Thames Valley area.

The hospice have adopted a special salmon pink flower and the bulbs have been planted at both Heatherwood and Wexham Park hospitals by volunteer Ian Brangwin who spent time in the already established flower beds planting more than 400 bulbs which will start to flower in the early spring. A small plaque will also mark the donation, helping to raise awareness of the charity.

Sue Lindsey, Director of Fundraising at Thames Hospicecare, said: “We are very grateful to the team at Heatherwood and Wexham for helping us to celebrate our 25th anniversary.”

Thames Hospicecare has two hospices, one in Ascot and the other in Windsor, and serves the local surrounding communities of east Berkshire and south Bucks, helping people live the best possible life they can right to the very end. All services are provided free and it is only through the generous and ongoing help from people in the local community that it is able to continue to help local people in need of hospice palliative care in the east Berkshire region.
