Every year I hear from clients, friends and family members leading up to Christmas and New Year how they are going to start afresh and get back into fitness and healthy eating on the 1st January. But why wait?

In the lead up to the festive period why not just try to maintain your current weight or, even better, if you now find yourself with some free time use it wisely and start your fitness regime now.

These are a few tips to help you maintain your current weight over the holiday period:

1. Never go to drinks or a party on an empty stomach you will inevitably ‘gorge’ due to hunger pains and will regret afterwards.

2. Eat your meals slowly which will make you feel like you haven eaten a lot.

3. Keep an eye on the portion sizes as often over the festive period portions can be larger than normal.

4. Remember that all alcoholic drinks are packed with calories somehow we generally forget that liquid contains calories but it is the main contributor for people packing on the pounds over Christmas.

Whether you succeed or fail on the above tobygarbett.com is here to help in the New Year with new fitness classes at home, in the studio or park.

Any queries please don’t hesitate to contact me.
